(Poem) Hiding In The Darkness

Behind me hiding in the darkness what did I hear

Two distinct short growls, not music to the ears

Walked into their world with trash bags in hand

Just two Coyote, nothing for an adult male to fear

In the night all the things that live and die around us

When you lose your attention you become an invitation

Coyotes didn’t care about me just Momma Bear behind me

When you turn around it’s an unwanted situation invitation

Momma Bear doing pushups on what’s left of my noggin

Wake up screaming, thank you Lord I was only dreaming
